About UNCOMMON Architects

A marketing and business development partner for architecture firms.

We work across North America and internationally. The firms we work with serve residential, commercial and institutional clients, so we run both B2B and B2C strategies — often for the same firm.

We're growing quickly, in the number of clients we work with and in the kinds of work we take on. The projects our clients win are significant ones, and we have a hand in how those deals come together. Helping good firms reach the people who commission buildings changes what actually gets built, and we would rather spend our time on firms whose work leaves places better than it found them.

Everyone here owns their own strategies. Content is one of the most important parts of what we sell, and we are looking for someone we can hand it to completely.

The role

Own content across our client book — and our own.

You will manage the content and the content strategy for five or more clients, plus UNCOMMON itself.

Writes well, in someone else's voice.

Most of what you write goes out under a client's name, so it has to sound like them.

Plans, then produces.

You build the calendar and then you fill it. Both halves are the job.

Business oriented.

Content here exists to attract the right audience — the people who could become clients.

Accurate.

Architecture is technical and our clients are experts in their own work. Getting a detail wrong costs their credibility, not just ours.

Proactive.

When something stops performing, you say so and change it.

Our account managers own the client relationships and the wider strategy. You work with them: they bring the commercial goal and the client context, you bring the content strategy and the writing.

What you will do

Plan it, write it, publish it, learn from it.

01Help define the content strategy for each client's social media, mainly LinkedIn.
02Build and manage the content calendar across five or more client accounts plus UNCOMMON.
03Write the content: posts, carousels, captions, and whatever else each account needs.
04Align everything with the account manager's strategy so content supports the wider plan rather than running beside it.
05Study each client's vocabulary, tone and style, then write so it reads as theirs.
06Check accuracy on every technical or project detail before anything is published.
07Turn completed projects into case studies and project descriptions.
08Write supporting content when needed: landing page copy, outreach copy, newsletters, longer articles.
09Track what published and what performed, and feed that back into the next plan.

You work alongside the account manager on each client, the SEO Growth Lead on search-led pieces, and the Marketing Generalist on production and design.

What we're looking for

A real writer who can also run a system.

  • 3+ years writing and managing content professionally, ideally agency or multi-client work.
  • Fluent English. You'll be on calls with our international team every day, writing in English constantly, and occasionally on calls with clients.
  • Range as a writer, and the ability to sound like someone other than yourself.
  • Experience building content plans tied to a defined audience, and keeping them running.
  • Comfortable managing content for several clients at once without anything slipping.
  • Comfortable in the tools we run on — Notion and content planning tools for the system side, and Claude for daily work, including Cowork, Claude Code and the custom skills we build ourselves.
  • You take a correction once and it stays taken. Feedback becomes part of how you work rather than something to remember.
  • A perfectionist streak, with the discipline to still ship every week.
Good to have

Not required, but it helps.

Sector experience

Architecture, real estate, construction, design, home services or professional services — or an agency serving them. We can teach the market, so this is signal rather than a requirement.

Interviewing

A lot of the best material comes out of a conversation with a principal.

Design sensibility

Enough to brief a carousel or a visual well.

Video

Experience directing video, or producing quality video yourself.

The offer

What you get, and what good looks like.

Compensation

$20,000 – $24,000
USD per year
  • 100% remote, flexible schedule, with enough overlap for daily team calls and occasional client calls.
  • 20 paid vacation days per year.
  • Culture: highly collaborative and results-driven.
  • Our number one objective: drive business for our clients.

What success looks like

This role takes editorial judgment, real writing ability, and the organisation to keep several clients moving at once.

The person who does well here plans ahead rather than scrambling, writes in each client's voice well enough that nobody has to rewrite it, and catches the detail that would have been wrong.

The measure is whether our clients are recognized by the people who commission their work — and whether the content is a reason they stay with us.

How we hire

Four steps. No black hole.

We read every application manually. Quality and authenticity matter more than speed.

1

Application

A short form and your CV. About ten minutes. We're looking for how you think, not a perfect résumé.

2

Introduction call

A conversation to get to know each other. What you've worked on, what you're looking for, how you like to work.

3

Writing challenge

A real client brief. We want to see how you find a voice, what you cut, and whether the detail is right.

4

Final conversation

An open discussion about values, goals and how we can grow together. Not a test.

Every application is reviewed by a person, and you'll hear back either way.

One more thing

Everyone here owns their own strategies.

Nobody is executing someone else's plan. If you want content handed to you completely — the strategy, the calendar, the writing and the standard — this is that role.

Takes about ten minutes. We review every application manually.
